Internet Movie Database (IMDb) displays information about second part of Rio – animated movie about birds from Rio de Janeiro in which will.i.am dubbed one of the characters.
The plot, revealed by director Carlos Saldanha and composer Sergio Mendes, will involve the 2014 FIFA World Cup. It will also feature an opening scene involving Blu and Jewel’s chicks, two of which are male, with the other being female, and the female being afraid to fly.
The first Rio made more than $484 million, so you bet the studios are planning a sequel. There’s no official announcement yet, but Sergio Mendes, who just like Will wrote some song for the first movie, said a sequel is quite likely: “I think the plan is for the movie to come three or four months before the World Cup. The 2014 World Cup takes place in Brazil, where the original Rio was set. Fox has been talking about it and it looks like it’s going to happen. We’re going to have a meeting I think next week and Carlos Saldanha is coming to town to tell us the story, and it looks like it’s a go.”
Its premiere should be on 28th April 2014 and will.i.am, Anne Hathaway, Jesse Eissenberg, Jemaine Clement, Tracy Morgan and Jamie Foxx should be among the cast.
Stay tuned for more information!!
